ABOUT BLAINE WHITTAKER 

BLAINE

Whittaker.

An Australian who has paid his dues by playing all around the world, went to New York in the Nineties to hone his craft and studied with Wynton Marsalis, George Coleman and Vincent Herring.

Back in Australia, he became a member of James Morrison’s touring band for almost ten years, Morrison being the country’s foremost Jazz trumpeter and musical icon.

In Greater China, Blaine has toured and recorded with just about every big name in the world of Canto and Mando-Pop- Jackie Cheung, Justin Lo, George Lam, Alex To, Kahlil , and Joey Yung.

In the last few years Blaine released his album Sound Barrier and released “Twilight” for Gold Typhoon China to sellout crowds in Sydney and HK. Has toured China with Laura Fygi, recorded albums with Howard McCrary– World Peace & Love, Janice 3000 Day & Night Concert/Album. Emma Pask – Some Other Spring, Brigitte Mitchell – Don't Explain and TV performance with Chris Wong.

Played with R&B artists Bobby Taylor, Mary Wilson, The Temptations, Roberta Flack, Sweedish jazz star Niels Landgren, and featured soloist with the HK Philharmonic Orchestra.

In early 2015 Blaine and the BigSmall Quartet released “STRANGE UNIVERSE” their latest album to full houses around HK , Macau & China.

​

In 2016 Blaine’s band featured in the grand opening of the Parisian Hotel Macau. Blaine also performed with British rock band "BLUR" in Hong Kong.

​

2017 saw Blaine featured on the smash hit song “Nights Without You” for Hong Kong artist AGA also appearing in the MV Universal Music.

2020 - Blaine recorded with Billy Childs (USA) with Teriver Cheung & Ensemble Transience featuring on “Path among the trees”

and also recorded with Alonzo Gonzalez on his album DESCARGA PA’ MI featuring on Tenor Sax.

​

2021 – played 4 sellout shows with HK rock band “ RubberBand” at Hong Kong Coliseum.
